BCPS is taking its next steps in the rollout of our new Transportation Department technology. This new software will enhance the day-to-day operations of this important department, allowing for more efficient monitoring and adjustments to operations. These software opportunities will allow our Transportation Department to quickly access updates on students, trips, field trips, vehicles, and staff to ensure our operation is running smoothly. “Our BCPS management team in Transportation are currently completing the necessary training for rollout and making steady progress with route planning and preparation,” says Mr. Troy Wood, Chief Operations Officer.
Currently, all mounting hardware needed for our buses has been ordered and installation is scheduled for Spring Break, with the tablets scheduled to arrive and be installed shortly after. Demo units have also been ordered for Technology and Transportation.
These upgrades will include a fleet maintenance package that allows BCPS to reduce costs, reduce vehicle downtime, extend vehicle life, increase technician productivity, maintain lower inventory levels, and better manage personnel and vendors.
“We hope to be able to begin use with a pilot group of drivers near the end of this school year, once we are able to provide adequate training,” adds Mr. Wood.
A full rollout of the new technology is anticipated for the 2023-24 school year.
