We are thrilled to share some exciting news that shows our district's hard work and dedication to a cleaner and more efficient future. Bullitt County Public Schools has recently been recognized by the Better Buildings Program through the U.S. Department of Energy. This recognition highlights how we're reducing energy usage and helping the environment.
The Better Buildings Program rewards organizations that work to reduce greenhouse gases, use less energy, and switch to cleaner energy sources. Bullitt County Public Schools is now part of this special group and is featured in the 2023 Progress Report from the U.S. Department of Energy.
One of the key highlights of our recognition is our partnership with the Kentucky Energy Efficiency Program for Schools (KEEPS). Together, we've created a plan to save energy across our district and appointed an Energy Manager. We've also formed school energy teams and even held a fun contest to create an energy mascot. But it doesn't stop there – we've found more ways to save money and energy by making checklists for energy-saving steps to take before holiday breaks.
So, why is this recognition important for us and all the people involved?
- Helping the Environment: Our efforts to use less energy and switch to cleaner sources make our planet healthier. By reducing greenhouse gases, we're doing our part to help create a more sustainable future.
- Saving Money: Using energy more wisely not only helps the environment, but also saves us money. We can use these savings to improve our schools and education for students.
- Learning Opportunities: Our partnership with KEEPS and the energy mascot contest give our students great chances to learn and be involved in this process. They'll understand how to save energy and protect our environment -- skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!
- National Recognition: Getting recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy makes our school district known for its proactive innovation across the country. It shows that our students, staff, and community are doing an excellent job!
Mr. Clemens, our Director of Facilities, said, "I am proud of the work in our district of reducing energy cost and being a national leader in the Better Buildings program." This recognition shows the great work and effort of everyone in our school community, and we should all be very proud!
As we keep moving forward, we continue our commitment to creating a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for our schools. We thank all of you for your support and hard work. Together, we're leaders in saving energy and protecting our environment, setting a great example for future generations, and making our Bullitt County Public Schools even better.
