Members of our local Chamber of Commerce recently visited our Area Technology Center (ATC) and Riverview Opportunity Center (ROC) to participate in some of the innovative learning experiences happening in Bullitt County. Our visitors were introduced to our Graduate Profile and the six "competencies" that our students learn to exhibit while in BCPS: Effective Communicator, Innovative Problem Solver, Productive Collaborator, Self-Directed Navigator, Community Contributor, and Mastery Learner. Chamber members were able to first participate in a Project-Based Learning Experience as students. During the PBL, they collaborated with a small group to solve an authentic, real-world problem. Later that afternoon, they were able to experience the teacher/evaluator side of a PBL project taking place in our Industrial Maintenance Program by reviewing some student projects and presentations. Our students were so excited to receive real feedback from Chamber members in order to keep their projects moving forward! We were so glad to welcome these folks from our community into our classrooms to see how we're shaking things up here in BCPS! #MovingForward #BCPSProactiveInnovation #BCPSCommunityContributor

This week, our THRIVE (New Teacher) Academy Coaches meet with our brand new elementary-level teachers for a day of collaboration and learning! Any time this group comes together, everyone (including the coaches) always leaves with new learning and many things to think about, but the thing that struck us most about this day was the overwhelming feeling of transparency, support, and just downright joy. Educating students is hard work, y'all, and it isn't for the faint of heart! But our new teachers and their coaches are rocking it out and showing up every. single. day. -- both for each other and for their kids. We can't wait to see the wonderful things our THRIVE Academy accomplishes this year! #MovingForward #BCPSProactiveInnovation #BCPSSharedAccountability

Deaf Awareness Month
🔄 We're shaking things up here in BCPS! 🔄 At their September meeting yesterday, our BCPS Principals came together with an intentional focus on one of our district's Core Values: Proactive Innovation. We are continually looking to learn, grow, and improve here in BCPS and the work our principals are doing now is setting the stage for what our schools will become in the future. 📈 Throughout their time together, our principals worked on creating a vision for a new accountability system that focuses more on the benefits our schools provide for our students and families instead of just on test scores alone. Principals also collaborated with each other to make connections between our Graduate Profile, the KY Teacher Evaluation Tool, and ways to create Authentic Learning Experiences for students. To end the day, they started taking a look at different ways to approach studying data in their buildings. It was a great day together with lots of creative thinking and future planning! 🧠 🤯 #MovingForward #BCPSProactiveInnovation
