November Writing Wall of Fame

Congratulations to the November Bulldogs of the Month!

Us and drugs are not a match! Check out our mismatched attire today!
We finish tomorrow's Red Ribbon Week with 'Life is Worth Celebrating!' Wear your costume to school (no masks, face paint, or props).

Our Bulldogs have spirit!
Red Ribbon Week continues tomorrow as we recognize that drugs and me aren't a match. It's mismatch day!

Our future is BRIGHT without drugs.
Tomorrow’s theme is ‘Bulldogs make good choices that have a ripple effect.’ Wear your LJES wear. Don’t have LJES swag? Dress in Bulldog colors (blue and white).

We were a sea of red today to kick off Red Ribbon Week!
Tomorrow we celebrate our bright futures by wearing neon or bright colors.

Thank you to Ms. Crawford for the donation of books to our library!. Ms. Crawford may have retired at the end of last school year, but her heart is always with LJES and the students here.

Thank you to James Darby, Kevin Emdee and David Jockell from Kilroymvpa for sharing with our students today. Thy spoke with each grade level about their experiences as a veteran and brought old military vehicles for our students to explore.

Our 4th and 5th graders participated in the first of five Conservation lessons today, presented by the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

We love our custodians! Yesterday was School Custodian Appreciation Day so we recognized ours today. We couldn’t make it through each day without Curtis, Anita, and Marty. Thank you for working so hard to keep our school looking great.

Could you design and create something out of nothing? This week in the Steam Lab, several classes are creating their own contraption Rube Goldberg style. The only rule: you must use simple machines to get your marble or car from the beginning to the end of the course. #movingforward

LJ’s focus this year is literacy. We want to ensure our students have the foundational skills necessary to be successful readers as they grow. Our K-2 students have a new program called Fundations that targets phonics skills. Skills are broken down into easy to learn lessons with hands on activities to help students remember what they have learned. In the pictures, Ms. Whittaker’s second graders participated in a lesson that included using magnetic letters to identify sounds that make up words. This may sound easy, but have you ever really thought about how many words in our language break the ‘rules’ for letter sounds? #movingforward

Title 1 Family Literacy Night has begun! Come join us until 7pm tonight.
