Flyers are coming home today to families who have not completed the CEP (free meals) form. Having every family complete this form each year is a big part of how we qualify as a school for free breakfast and lunch for every student. Students in fourth grade read a biography this week about Vietnam vet and Native American sculptor, Michael Naranjo. Wounded in war, Michael lost his sight and partial use of one hand. Despite these challenges, he continued to pursue his dream of being a sculptor, with his artwork now displayed in the US, Europe and the White House! Students reviewed using explicit and implicit details to better understand a text, discussed how Michael demonstrated several of our Graduate Profile competencies and students were engaged in an authentic learning experience when they tried sculpting blind. Needless to say, they had a lot of fun!

Look at those smiles! These students are rocking first and second grade and being responsible inside and outside of class. Nellie is focused on learning at all times no matter the distraction. Jaxon, Zeanna, and Jillian took it upon themselves to clean up trash and debris on the playground during their recess time so the playground can stay nice for everyone who uses it. We are so proud of all of you!

We are so proud of Cayden! He has shown great growth and has been helpful to remind our younger students of expectations for safety and respect in their building this week. He is definitely deserving of this positive office referral. Way to go, Cayden!
Gina Weber, District Instructional Coach for Graduate Profile, met with our fourth graders this week to introduce 2 of the Graduate Profile competencies. Students learned how to be Effective Communicators and Productive Collaborators in their learning this year. #bcpsmovingforward

This ensures they have what they need for unforeseen accidents without causing an inconvenience for you. A top, bottoms, underwear, and socks in a gallon-sized ziplock bag makes all the difference. Let's keep our kids prepared and confident!
