ATTENDANCE MATTERS

08/11/2023

Nichols Knights Families,

It has been so wonderful to welcome all of our students back to school!

What a week!  We have had an amazing start to our new school year!

Please join me in welcoming our new staff members: 5th Grade teacher - Ashleigh Quiggins, 2nd Grade teacher - Lauren Thornsberry, Special Education teacher - Dawn Smith, and math tutor - Amanda Guess.

In case you are new to our school, this is the weekly newsletter that we send out each Friday.  I type it up and Ms. Bledsoe posts it to Class Dojo and our Nichols website.  BCPS is also now using a Thrillshare app that can be downloaded to your cellphone.  Through the Thrillshare app you can connect to the BCPS website and the Nichols website. If you are connected to Dojo, and you check our NES  and BCPS websites regularly, you will stay informed.

On the menu of our Nichols website, you can find a complete list of our staff.  Look under “About NES” and click “Meet our Staff”.   On our website you can also find a listing of events, current and past newsletters, handbooks, policies, and so much more.  Please take time to check it out.

The Student handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here.  Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook that answer questions we have been getting phone calls about. This week’s tidbit is about visitors for lunch…

Parents may begin visiting for lunch after Labor Day. Parents wishing to eat lunch with their child must call the school ahead of time to make a reservation. Parents may not bring restaurant food to their child for lunch. The rule prohibiting outside food also applies to breakfast.

I hope you and your child have a wonderful start to this new school year.  Always remember that you can call, email, or message in Dojo, when you have questions or concerns.  And if you need to come in for a conversation, we’ll set up a time for that as well.  Welcome to Nichols!  Go Knights!

Upcoming dates:

8/15 - SBDM Meeting 5:30

8/17 - PTA Meeting 6:00

9/4 - Labor Day holiday - no school

9/5 - Bullitt Day - teacher work day - no school

10/2 - 10/6 - Fall Break

Have a wonderful weekend !
