ATTENDANCE MATTERS

10/13/2023

Nichols Knights Families,

Fall Pictures were taken on Monday, September 25th.  If your child was absent, we will have a picture re-take day on Monday November 13th.  This is the new date since Lifetouch called to say they can’t come on Wednesday, November 1st.

We had our monthly Celebration on Thursday afternoon followed by House Parties.

  • Our class attendance trophy for September went to: Mrs. Tomes’ class.

  • Our Mojo Banner was awarded to Mrs. Reverman’s Kindergarten for the highest percentage of positive Dojo points.

  • Golden Awards.

    • Golden Spatula for cafeteria behavior - Mrs. Ferrell’s class.

    • Golden Sneakers for hallway behavior - Mrs. Tomes' class.

    • Golden Dustpan for cleanest classroom -  Mrs. French class.

Congratulations to all of of our award recipients!  Way to go, Nichols Knights!

We are very excited about our Lunch with Someone Special that will be held this Friday, October 20th.  It is very important that you fill out the Google RSVP form so you will be on our verified list.  The deadline has actually already passed because food had to be ordered.  But even if you are just coming to visit, we need your name on the list so please complete the Google form ASAP so we can plan accordingly. The name on the list must match the name on the visitor’s ID.  You will check in for lunch that day in the lobby and then sit in the provided chairs in the hall outside of the cafeteria to wait for your student to come to lunch. Please don’t arrive more than 10 minutes early since we are a small school and have very limited space for people to wait.

Adjusted lunch times for October 20th: 12:00 French, 12:05 Reverman, 12:10 Quiggins, 12:15 Ferrell, 12:30 Thornsberry, 12:35 Tomes.

The Student handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here.  Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook to answer questions we have been getting phone calls about.

This week’s tidbit is a repeat of last week due to our upcoming lunch day about:

VISITORS

  • PICTURE ID is REQUIRED for anyone entering the building or picking up a child.  The name on  your ID must match the name on the authorized list.

  • All visitors, including parents, must sign in at the front office and receive a visitor’s badge or pass before reporting to any area within the building.  The ID must be scanned using the authorized software.  There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Parents wishing to eat lunch with their child must call the school ahead of time to make a reservation.  (If you are coming to Lunch with Someone Special, you do not have to call that day. We will already have the RSVP you submitted electronically.) Parents may not bring restaurant food to their child for lunch.  Parents may begin visiting for lunch after Labor Day. The rule prohibiting outside food also applies to breakfast.
