ATTENDANCE MATTERS
10/27/2023
Nichols Knights Families,
Red Ribbon Week was a great success! Thanks to everyone for helping your children participate in all of our dress up days. Thank you for planning an awesome week, Mrs. Clark!
Veteran’s Day is quickly approaching. We will have a Veteran’s Day Assembly for students on Nov. 10th at 9:30. Every year I share a slideshow of all of the veterans connected to our Nichols family, staff and students. If you are new to Nichols, and you have any veterans in your family, please share a photo if you want them included in our slideshow. Please include the student’s name, relationship to student, and military information. (For example: Mrs. Landry’s Dad, US Army.) If you shared photos with me in the past there is no need to share again since they are already included in the slideshow.
The Student handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here. Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook to answer questions we have been getting phone calls about.
This week’s tidbit is about dress code: (repeat to clarify for Halloween costumes)
DRESS CODE EXPECTATIONS and Rules for “dress-up” and “spirit” days
The principal has the final say in determining the appropriateness of student dress. If you wonder if it will be allowed, it’s probably best that you don’t allow your child to wear it.
Rules for “dress-up” and “spirit” days
Periodically, we will have days when students are allowed to “dress up” for various reasons: school spirit, Red Ribbon Week, Career Day, Read Across America, etc.
Please still adhere to the normal dress code policy with regard to modesty, and to the following additional rules:
Elementary school-age appropriate
No weapons
Nothing scary, no blood, no gore
No masks covering the face
Students must be able to use the restroom
Costumes must not interfere with education
The principal has the final say in determining the appropriateness of student costumes.
Upcoming dates:
10/31 - Trick-or-Treating in the halls and Fall parties (Yes, students may wear costumes.)
11/4 - Fall Festival 2:00 - 6:00
11/13 - Picture re-takes
Have a wonderful weekend !
