ATTENDANCE MATTERS
11/03/2023
Nichols Knights Families,
Please don’t forget to come out for our Fall Festival, tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 4th from 2:00 - 6:00. We will have games, prizes, a turkey dinner, and a live auction. Come join the fun!
We had a wonderful time on Tuesday for Halloween. For Trick-or-treating the halls were full of spooky, funny and silly costumes. The kids really seemed to love the dark hallways, twinkling lights in the office, and of course, the candy! And then it was party time! What a great day!
I have received survey responses from many of our 4th and 5th grade student families about interest in a basketball team. However, Nichols will not be having a team this year. We don’t have enough players for a team, we don’t have a full gym with two goals to practice in, and we don’t have anyone to coach the team. I’m sorry it didn’t work out. I know there are a few other local teams that your child may be able to join, so I wanted to be sure you knew it’s not going to work out for us this year so your child can join another team.
We had our monthly Celebration on Thursday afternoon followed by House Parties.
Our class attendance trophy for October went to: Mrs. Tomes ’ class.
Cameron and Agnew were both awarded the House Spirit Award for October.
Our Mojo Banner was awarded to Mrs. Tomes’ class for the highest percentage of positive Dojo points.
Golden Awards.
Golden Spatula for cafeteria behavior - Mrs. Thornsberry’s class.
Golden Sneakers for hallway behavior - Mrs French’s class.
Golden Dustpan for cleanest classroom - Mrs. Tomes’ class.

Veteran’s Day is quickly approaching. We will have a Veteran’s Day Assembly for students on Nov. 10th at 9:30. Every year I share a slideshow of all of the veterans connected to our Nichols family, staff and students. If you are new to Nichols, and you have any veterans in your family, please share a photo if you want them included in our slideshow. Please include the student’s name, relationship to student, Veteran’s name, and military information. (For example: Mrs. Landry’s Dad, US Army.) If you shared photos with me in the past there is no need to share again since they are already included in the slideshow.
The Student handbook was shared on Class Dojo, can be found on the Nichols website, and is linked here. Each week at the beginning of the year, I will share a couple of tidbits from the Student handbook to answer questions we have been getting phone calls about.
This week’s tidbit is about chromebooks:
