Dear families,
I hope this message finds you all well and excited for the new school year ahead! As we complete our first week of school, I want to extend a warm welcome back to our returning families and a heartfelt greeting to those who are joining our community for the first time.
This year promises to be filled with new opportunities for learning, growth, and connection. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare engaging lessons and activities that will inspire our students and foster a love of learning.
Please remember that communication is key to our success. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out. I encourage you to participate in our school events and activities as we build a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.
Let’s make this year the best one yet!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Bradbury
Important Information
Safety Drills
By law, we must practice all of our safety drills during the first two weeks of school. We will explain these and walk through the purpose of each drill with the students. The drills we must practice include fire, tornadoes/ severe weather, earthquake, bus evacuations and lock down. These drills may be a little scary for the students that are experiencing them for the first time, especially with the load alarms and sirens. You can help us by discussing these drills with your students at home.
Rooms/ Thrillshare App
This year all classes will be using the Rooms/ Thrillshare platform. We will no longer be using ClassDojo. You can download the BCPS app so that you can see classroom updates, news from your child's teacher, and much more. Teachers will also be able to use the app for behavior. Parents will get notifications of behavior points and how their child is doing throughout the school day.
SBDM Parent Representative
We have an open seat on our SBDM council for a parent. The council meets once a month after school and we work together to set school policies that are consistent with district board policies. The goal of the council is to improve student achievement and help Nichols meet their goals.
If you are interested in serving in this position or know someone that is, please reach out to Mrs. Bradbury.
