If you are dropping off or picking up your student(s) at school, you must go through the car rider line. Please do not pull over by the trees and let them walk up to the building in the morning. If you have to help unbuckle your student, please pull in a parking spot to unbuckle and then join the car rider line in the morning.
If you have to help buckle your student at dismissal, please pull to the side parking lot after picking them up in the car rider line.
In order to streamline the process even more, we would like to remind you of the following:
1. Please form 2 lines as you enter the school parking lot. These two lines will turn into
one line when you get to the front of the school. Alternate like you would in a drive-thru
2. Pull all the way up to the end of the porch so that we can exit/deliver as many students as possible at one time.
3. As you arrive please have your child ready to exit the vehicle with their backpacks on their backs. .
4. Parents/ Guardians should stay inside the vehicle when dropping off and picking up their child.
5. If the car in front of you has not moved, please do not pull away from the line and go
around the vehicle.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Mrs. Scott’s class participated in a STEM challenge this week. Students were tasked to build a tent that would be waterproof. They only had a certain amount of materials to work with. We tested our tents by putting 4 cotton balls inside and pouring water over them. Everyone did such a great job!

A special thanks to Mr. Wimsatt for donating hand sanitizer to the school for the students and staff! He is the proud grandfather of three OES students! Here's a picture of his children who helped with delivery!

A BIG THANKS & SHOUTOUT TO MR. JERRY WEBB of Phoenix Roofing for donating water to our students and bus drivers during the Excessive Heat Warning Days!
We appreciate all you & your family do for Overdale!

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Car Rider Procedures
At Overdale we strive to provide the best possible experience for our students and their families.

OES Families- We are under an excessive Heat Warning until Thursday. Please send water bottles with your child so they have on the ride/walk home from school.

From the transportation department: For Tanyard Spring Elementary parents: Bus#1818, Mr. Orville, does two elementary runs and he does not get to Tanyard Springs until about 8:40. Please be patient while he learns this route. He has only had a couple days on there so far. Thank you for your patience and understanding up to this point. The bus video shows several stops where students weren't outside waiting for the bus. It's much easier for new drivers in the area to pick up students if they're visible to the driver. It's an extremely LONG route (2 runs) involving far too many front door stops. We checked the sheets this morning and went over the route again with Mr. Orville.

2023-2024 BCPS School Calendar at a glance.

We had a great first week of school. Thank you for all of your patience with the car rider lines. Everyone have a great weekend.

We have a few things in our lost and found. Please have your student check the lost and found in the front foyer.

"The Impact of IXL Math and IXL ELA on Student Achievement in Grades Pre-K to 12," researchers found that students using IXL experienced greater growth on the NWEA MAP assessments than students without IXL. In addition, the effect of IXL was dose dependent: students who used the program more experienced even greater growth than their peers.
This rigorous evaluation featured a quasi-experimental design and included:
A large sample size of 4,000 students across multiple sites. Students in all grade levels, pre-K to 12th grade
Positive, statistically significant results for all NWEA MAP goal areas in math and reading. OES will use as learning stations, extension activities or supplemental support for student learning .
