Week two of Summer Learning is a wrap! Our students have been having fun and working hard! See you in a few weeks.

Today concluded our first week of summer learning! Students had a great time working on reading and math. The ended the week being ninjas!

Tuesday was a great day at the Bullitt County Public Library in Mt. Washington.
Two teachers shared a story and students worked on the summer reading challenge.
Our next library day is Tuesday, June 27th.

Be sure and join us at the Mt. Washington Branch Public Library tomorrow, June 13th to listen to a story read by a MWES teacher. This will begin at 1:00pm and can count towards your Summer Reading Challenge. Can't wait to see you there!!

It was a great day recognizing our Kindergarten students. They grow so much over the year and they did an amazing job singing for all in attendance. The teachers awarded students for their achievements in many areas including reading, writing, science; creativity and social skills as well. We are all so proud of them!

These bikes were donated to our school by the David Vittitoe Memorial Foundation. The foundation encourages good attendance and hard work. We are happy these went to 2 lucky winners; Ethan and Rylee. Congratulations!!

We are so proud of our 5th graders and all they have accomplished thus far. We appreciate their leadership in leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance to begin our ceremony. They were gifted with words of wisdom from the Principal. Others were recognized for perfect attendance, track records, and club involvement. The Dare officer rewarded several students for their essays and participation. We are so very excited to see what the future holds for this special group. We wish them the best!

Field Day 2023 is in the books. Beautiful weather and fun games made for the perfect day. The students got to experience limbo, obstacle course, dizzy derby, a dance party and so much more. Thanks to Mr. Vibbert for organizing. But it could not take place without the help of the many volunteers. We also appreciate our teachers for being good sports and leading their class. This day is busy and many leave exhausted but it is worth it!

Thanks to the Franklin family for providing our staff lunch. We all appreciated your thoughtfulness!

Wednesday was Junior Achievement in a day for grades K-4. We were so appreciative of the volunteers who came to teach the lessons to our students. They covered topics such as making choices, needs and wants, earning and saving, assembly line work as well as inventory and production. We might just have many entrepreneurs in our future.

The Lost and Found is still overflowing!! There are a lot of small sizes. Parents you work too hard to donate these clothes.
The Lost and Found will will out until Friday night.

Okay. I have to say this was one of my favorites. Second grade researched the Statue of Liberty and completed a building challenge. They had so much fun. They are finishing up this week. Best of all they can tell you all about the statue and what liberty means. -Mrs. Noe

Things were looking bright in the Second grade today. It was all a glow. Learning and having a great time doing it!

The MWES Lost and Found is over flowing! It will be left outside by our front doors all day and night until Friday. Please come up to see if your child has lost something.

Congratulations to these girls who competed in the Elementary State Meet. Bailee placed 1st in the Long Jump, runner-up in the 400 meter dash, and qualified to compete in the Middle School State Meet. Edie placed 2nd in the shot put. Violet placed 1st in the shot put and 2nd in the 100 meter. We are so proud of all their hard work and efforts. The team overall celebrated many successes!

Nothing better than camping and reading. This is exactly what our first grade team experienced at Camp Read. Along. The day included guest readers, making book marks, hearing campfire stories and many other adventures. The students enjoyed dressing in their pajamas and embracing the camping feel!

MWES family began to celebrate Mr.Kerr for his years of service in providing students an experience with the performing arts. He has organized the Winterfest entertainment, caroling at the Light Up MW to singing, playing instruments and learning about music in his classroom. We appreciate him and what he has given to our school. We wish him well in his retirement in just a few short days.

The first grade team enjoyed the nature and outdoors on this beautiful day! They studied rocks and clouds as well discussed animal habitats and went on a scavenger hunt. All the work was followed by a popsicle treat to end their at school field trip.

Happy Teachers' Appreciation Week!
Thank you A Plus for the delicious bagels for breakfast this morning!
Thank you to Hannah Hoskins of State Farm for the amazing cake for our after lunch treat!

Things were looking bright and "GLOW" much learning was happening in the fourth grade today. Students and teachers wore their neon and activities followed in theme. What a fun time!
