During our Pow-Wow we also recognized our November Chief of the Month, Mrs. Williams! Our October Chief of the Month, Mrs. Russell had this to say about our 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Williams : "Mrs. Williams deserves the title of Chief of the Month for so many reasons. She shows exemplary leadership for our team and in her classroom. As the 5th grade team leader she makes sure our team is always prepared and informed on the things going on around the building. Mrs. Williams is also a great leader in her classroom. She has made sure to go above and beyond to form unforgettable relationships with her students. She has made connections with all of them to help make them all feel welcome in her classroom. Mrs. Williams has also taken on a great leadership role with our new reading and writing program. She has spent countless hours combing through the material to find ways that will best help our students learn and master the lessons we are teaching. She makes engaging lessons and slides to go along with the material. Thank you for being a great leader in our school and to your students. We are so lucky to have you!"

This afternoon we celebrated our K - 2 students! We recognized our Braves of the Month, Academic Tags, bus riders, and ended the celebration with a game of Stuff the Turkey! We are so proud of each and every one of you and your dedication to being a BRAVE!

Today we celebrated our November Pow -Wows. First up this morning was our 3rd-5th grades' celebration! We recognized our Braves of the Month for Gratitude, Academic tags in the area of Social Studies, STLP, and our Boys and Girls basketball teams. We finished our celebration with a staff vs boys/girls basketball game. Both games were close, but the girls and boys basketball teams came out on top!!

Congratulations to our STLP team! Project Found and Cafe Crowd Control presented their ideas to judges on Wednesday and BOTH teams are moving on to the State competition in Lexington coming up this April. We are so proud of all of their accomplishments and hard work they have put into their projects this season so far.

These 3 friends - Havyn, Cole and Kira were "caught" doing the right thing as they were leaving the Pow-wow! They each got the chance to choose a book from the book vending machine. They can cuddle up and read on these cold days!

#Monochrome - work as a team, play as a team!

A blast from the past! Today our staff represented the high schools or colleges they attended! #ThrowbackThursday

Bus 1973 WILL have a sub driver this afternoon - Thursday, Nov. 21.

Last Friday the 3rd grade pledged to never throw an aluminum can in the trash. So Annie earned "can crushing" with Mrs. Adams and threw cans into the recycling bin. Annie was great at getting them smashed in just one stomp. I appreciate her hard work and good choices to earn the points!

Kihnley was an amazing role model today! She was following the hallway expectations, even while waiting to get in the gym for a program she continued to make good choices. She earned herself a trip to the book vending machine. Kihnley helps make MWES a great place to be!

Texas Roadhouse gift card orders were due TODAY (11/20). Please be sure to send those in tomorrow if you were not able to do so today! Tomorrow is THE ABSOLUTE LAST DAY to turn in your orders. Gift cards will be in before winter break if you are buying them as a gift. 🎁

Huge shoutout to Bullitt East students from FBLA who worked with our 4th and 5th graders over the last few weeks. These high school students taught lessons to our intermediate learners about economy, money, and what needs vs wants are. Today was their last lesson with us and we attended the workshop where students put their skills to use.

You never know what the staff here at MWES is going to do next! Anything but a cup day!

It was an amazing morning celebrating National Recycling Day last Friday. The school has brought in 23,800 cans so far putting us 3rd place in the contest. Many more cans were brought in Friday and lots of students earned that "stinky feet" reward: Our 3rd graders the leaders in these efforts, had extra activities to celebrate this day. Four employees from Tri-Arrows Aluminum visited to read them a book about recycling and gifted them their first reward which were shirts with a recycling symbols. They later had the opportunity to zoom live with Scuba Jess to hear about her diving finds and how she recycles and cleans the ocean. She is also one of the authors of the book shared with our students and a partner in the "Recycling is Magic" contest. She gave each of our third graders their own copy of her book. They also got a VIP viewing of the new recycling cartoon. It was a great day of learning. Please continue to send in your aluminum beverage cans so we can move to number 1! 😊
