Students from Bus 1718 were rewarded with a sweet treat for following bus expectations with excellance.

This week we would like to show our appreciation for some of the best ladies around! It's School Counselor week as well as Family Resource Youth Services Center (FRYSC) week! These ladies work hard to take care of our students' needs in many ways.

Last week, students in Ms. Mattingly's 7th grade social studies completed an escape room/puzzle of sorts. They had to solve clues to see if they survived the Black Plague in the Middle Ages.

Just a snapshot into our band classes led by Ms. Parsons! She is amazing at encouraging her students' musical abilities.

Mrs. Hall's 6th grade science classes completed stations to learn about chemical and physical changes.

Students in Mrs. Roach's 7th grade PE classes started a new unit on volleyball skills!

Congratulations to our staff and students of the month for February! These folks all demonstrate our PACK values- Pride, Accountability, Courage and Kindness. #zonetonstrong #bepartofthePACK

Parents/guardians, we need your help! Many students are coming to school without charging their chromebooks OR they've lost their charger. This causes issues for our teachers to be able to give instruction effectively.
Per BCPS policy, lost chargers are NOT covered under the one free repair part. Every student was provided a charger at the beginning of the school year. If they have lost theirs, it is the family's responsibility to purchase another one. All chromebooks use a USB-C type. Something like this from Amazon would work well: https://a.co/d/9ACiclx

Absolutely huge shoutout to 8th grader Cheyenne Harley for making the All-State Band! This is a prestigious honor for which the BCPS Board of Education recognized Cheyenne. We are so proud of her musical talent and hard work!

Students in all grades this week have visited the library to kick off the Blind Date with a book reading challenge! Students can pick a covered up book "blind date" based on the clues on the bags. Students have to commit to reading their books then "rate their date" as they read during the month of February. This was a smash hit with many students! Spreading the love of reading is so fun. :)

Students in Ms Pearl’s 7th grade math classes completed stations to review for their upcoming assessment. They worked together to complete tasks.

Massively discounted Spirit Wear sale! All of these designs are discontinued from years past that had been in storage. There are VERY limited quantities of each size and some sizes are not available at all! This is a first come first serve sale, no online orders. Students can bring cash or check and visit the library during mentor (homeroom) over the next two weeks starting Monday. Each item is $5! Proceeds will benefit our students.

7th grade social studies with Ms. Mattingly rotated through different stations to learn about the Middle Ages! They analyzed paintings, discussed articles, sorted diary entries from Joan of Arc, and compared maps.

Some band students auditioned for and participated in the All-District Band a few weeks ago! This is a huge honor with only select students invited based on their musical talent. Our students had a wonderful time together and improving their skills with the amazing Ms. Parsons!

6th grade social studies classes with Mrs. Jaggers and Mr. Keehn did an amazing stations activity last week in the library. Students did a "jigsaw" where they became an expert in a topic then taught that topic to a small group of their peers. Our teachers design amazing lessons!

Each BCPS school is supposed to submit a banner design for an upcoming state School Boards conference. Each school will compete for being the district banner representative. Congratulations to the ZMS design winner, Brayden West 8th grader! This is his wonderful design.

Did you know that you can help fund your ZMS students all from the comfort of your phone? Box Tops for Education has gone digital! Download the app and scan your grocery receipts. Just a few moments of your time can help us!

Congrats ZMS Archery on another successful tournament. For the first time in school history, they won 3 trophies from one event! We are so proud of them!

No School tomorrow January 16 for Martin Luther King Jr Day.

ZMS Baseball open gym Feb 3. Students must have sports physical on file or bring one. More info about the team to come!
